Though Rose is not from Gulu, she came here looking for job opportunities. When she applied to Elephante, “at first, I needed a job and knew I enjoyed cooking and serving people, but what I found here was friendship, a family.” She is grateful for the unity good leadership here brings.
Rose considers herself a very good friend. “I am good at keeping my word.” In her free time, she likes watching adventure movies and spending time with kids. She hopes that in the future she will be able to take care of her parents, both of whom are sick.
When asked what she loves about Uganda, she says, “There are a lot of things!” One of those being that the people here have the practical skills they need for life, like farming.
For Gulu, she hopes to see more places like Elephante, places that empower people to do things for themselves instead of depending on others. She also wants to see better job opportunities and better schools.
